The goals of the Rafferty Music Studio are to provide an environment in which each student develops an understanding and lifelong enjoyment of music. Every student has great talent and potential which we continually strive to develop. Lesson programs are designed to meet the specific needs and abilities of each student. In every lesson format, each student is given the opportunity to receive instruction on an individual basis from the instructor. Students also have the opportunity to learn using a variety of methods, media, and the latest in music education technology.

Students will be expected to practice regularly and continue to develop their talents outside of the formal lesson. Students will be given the opportunity to share their talents with their family and friends in studio recitals that are held twice yearly. Students will be given the opportunity to share and expand their talents through participating in competitions and other musical events throughout the year.  Students are also encouraged to participate in other learning and performing opportunities, such as school talent shows, church, choir, and band.

This studio offers weekly lessons in the following formats:

Small Group Lesson  $80/month* ($160/month for piano and voice)
Small group lessons are an hour in length and include one-on-one instruction with the teacher during which students study many aspects of musicianship, including theory, technique, and repertoire. Students also have the opportunity to deepen and extend their knowledge  by rotating through different stations in the music lab, including music theory, music history, sight reading, ear training, technique, composition, and ensemble performance. There are 3-5 children in each group.  Students are grouped according to age and ability, and enjoy working and learning with their musical peers.

Private Lesson (piano or voice only)   $126/month*
Private lessons are thirty minutes in length and are conducted under the constant instruction of the teacher on the grand piano. During these lessons, students will focus on theory, technique, repertoire and other aspects of musicianship such as history, ear training, and sight reading. Students will have varied opportunities to work in the keyboard lab as needed.

45 Minute Private Lesson (piano and voice combo, or piano only) $187/month*
45 minute private lessons and are conducted under the constant instruction of the teacher on the grand piano. During these lessons, students will focus on theory, technique,  repertoire and other aspects of musicianship such as history, ear training, and sight reading. Students will have varied opportunities to work in the keyboard lab as needed. The 45 minute lesson can be used as a combination piano and voice lesson.

*This monthly payment represents a percentage of total yearly tuition.  It does not change regardless of the actual number of lessons per month (excluding the months of June and July).  Tuition is based on 32 lessons per year, August through May.
